About Kodzoman SoccerFounded in 2003 to provide young soccer players who have dedication, desire and love for the game the opportunity to become better soccer players and better people by exposing them to different players, styles, and cultures from around the world. ‘Discover the World Through Soccer’ is the motto for Kodzoman Soccer and that is how founder Mattias Kodzoman ended up finding his path out of Sweden around the world and settling in beautiful California. Players who experience the ‘Kodzoman Soccer Discovery’ return back home with a deeper understanding of soccer, a deeper appreciation of the unique differences of the world’s cultures, and the idea that soccer can unite youth from around the world just by playing ‘the beautiful game’.
Kodzoman Soccer retains only the finest coaches; individuals who have not only excelled in soccer as players themselves but, who have the unique talent of communicating with young people on a personal basis. Coaches emphasize the importance of behaving with the utmost consideration, both on and off the field at all times. We expect all coaches, players, staff and chaperones who represent our teams to be mindful of both respect and pride; respect for oneself, one’s opponents, respect for the host culture, and pride in one’s teammates and family which are represented with their every action. FounderMattias Kodzoman is the Owner/Director of Kodzoman Soccer and has an extensive background as a player, coach and administrator. His first introduction to soccer was at the age of 6 in his hometown of Vasteras, Sweden. He ended up playing at the highest youth level in Sweden until he decided to discover a new part of the world through soccer. He ended up moving to the United States at the age of 19 with the objective of studying and playing collegiate soccer for one year. This ‘one’ year plan ended up being a lifelong plan as Mattias finished his first two years in the midwest before transferring to University of San Francisco where he later graduated from.
While a student athlete at USF Mattias started coaching youth teams in Marin County and he immediately realized he enjoyed teaching and inspiring youth players to grow in the game. A few years down the road he organized his 1st European Soccer trip to Gothia Cup, Gothenburg Sweden. Since then Kodzoman Soccer has had over 3,500 players, family members, and supporters join him to ‘Discover the World Through Soccer’. Mattias resides in Marin County with his wife Valerie and two daughters. In his spare time he enjoys being with his family, running, and watching his favorite Premier League Soccer team Liverpool, and his native countries Sweden and Croatia play soccer.
