Who is invited to be a part of this trip?
Invitations go out to players who currently play on competitive soccer teams for appropriate age groups (usually U14/U15) in Marin County and surrounding areas.
How are teams created if players come from different teams?
The teams will be formed based on where the players will be playing next season (2026-2027). We will take into consideration player positions, birth-year, ability, and friendships when forming the teams. This is done so that the trip can provide the additional benefit of preseason preparation & bonding for the players. There are no try-outs for the Kodzoman Soccer teams.
Do they train prior to leaving?
Yes, we will have 6-8 practices starting mid-June (about 2 per week) leading up to our departure on July 4th, 2026. The practices are not mandatory but if your player is in town, please have them come out so we can be best prepared for the trip.
Can I send my player without a parent joining?
Yes, you can. We bring enough staff to coach the players and chaperone them. We bring one coach and one assistant per team. Parent supporters are always welcome but not necessary.
Who are the coaches and assistants?
Each summer we bring at least one coach and one assistant per team. We also have additional staff to help. The player/adult ratio is about 1:6. The coaches coming along are professional soccer coaches from Marin County and surrounding areas. The assistants are players that currently attend college and went on this trip when they were U14/15 youth players.
Does my player need to travel with the team round trip?
No, your player can choose from these different options for travel:
There are 4 options for the flight arrangements for each player
1) Fly Round Trip with the Main Group (Using the group booking. We have 70 round trip seats confirmed with Scandinavian Airlines)
2) Fly outbound flight with Main Group and return with family (We have 25 one-way seats confirmed with Lufthansa Airlines)
3) Fly outbound with family and return with Main Group (Need to arrange your own flight*)
4) Fly Round Trip with family and meet the Main Group in Europe (Need to arrange your own flight*)
